About

"Bombas is a comfort-focused apparel brand with a mission to help those in need." (Bombas.com). Bombas focuses on creative the most comfortable socks, t-shirts, and underwear where for every item purchased, an item is donated to someone in need. This mission has propelled them to over $100 million in revenue over just 6 years.

History

Bombas was founded in 2013 when the founders David and Randy came across the fact that socks were the number one requested item at homeless shelters due to the inability to donate used socks. With this discovery, the idea to give away a pair of socks for every pair of socks sold was born.

In order to donate a lot of socks, they had to sell a lot of socks. To do this, they focused on creating the best quality sock out there. Bombas appeared on shark tank in 2014 and made a deal with Daymond John in 2017.

Mission Statement

Bee Better

"The name Bombas comes from the Latin word for bumblebee. Bees live in a hive and work together to make their world a better place. They’re small, but have a big effect on things.

When we say Bee Better, we mean it as a mantra, a way of approaching every day. It’s stitched into the inside of every pair of Bombas for a reason. It’s a reminder to push yourself harder to be better at your athletic pursuits. A reminder that these socks, t-shirts and underwear are engineered and designed with thought to better.

A reminder that you helped someone in need with your purchase. And a reminder that we’re all connected and little improvements can add up to make a big difference." (Bombas.com)

Core Values

1) Make A Purchase, Make A Difference

"Our mission since day one has been to help those experiencing homelessness. That’s why for every item you purchase, we donate an item on your behalf. We thought this was a pretty good idea. Turns out a lot of other people did, too. We’ve donated more than 40 million items to more than 3,500 community organizations to date—all thanks to supporters like you."

2) Quality Obsessed

"We spent years in R&D, so you can spend years wearing your Bombas. Each item we make is rigorously tested for comfort and durability, and we’re constantly looking for more ways to innovate and improve. Because the better your clothes are, the better you feel when doing, well, just about anything."

3) We Sweat The Small Stuff

"Small things matter. They add up. Then, they turn into big things. So we took the time to pinpoint all the small issues with socks and t-shirts: the painful toe seams; annoying pilling; no shows that slip. You name it, we found it. Then we tweaked and tweaked until we reached total perfection."

Color Palette

Bombas Color Psychology

Bombas uses black, white, and deep blue when primarily communicating it's visual identity. Black and white align with the company's core value "Quality Obsessed". Black and white is a confident, luxurious color combination, but when used with Bomba's deep blue, it really brings the entire mission to the forefront. A luxury product that everyone needs. Blue is the color of trust. It promotes calmness and relaxation.

Typography

Bombas uses a custom font called "Bombas" for all it's typography, but most simple, sans serif fonts will accomplish the same thing here. The font is clean and minimal, placing the attention towards the product and mission.

Illustration

Bombas usage of illustration is virtually non-existent outside of these hexagonal shapes that are incorporated throughout their website, packaging, and product design. These hexagonal shapes just reinforce the "Bee Better" mission in subtle ways without distracting from the actual mission and product.
